Hello world! | August 22 2024
This is the first entry in this digital journal of mine. Hello! This is web journal is a bit of an experiment for me, since I already have a physical journal in real life. There's not much point in having two journals, is there?
I love journaling. Or, rather, I love the idea of journaling. I've started many journals throughout my life, each only lasting a few months until I got bored or forgot.
I think the idea of documenting your life and memories in a book is so neat, but the problem is when you get stuck in a repititious cycle you run out of stuff to write about. It can feel depressing to write about going to work and watching Youtube videos when you get home. In my most recent journal, I circumvented this issue by getting more philosophical, writing my thoughts on life and my relationships and other things not pertinent to the current day.
This worked for a while, but I find myself growing bored again. Maybe a new venue for my thoughts is needed? After all, doing the same things over and over kills your creativity.
I don't really expect anyone to really read these, so this is just a personal project for me. If you do stick around, you'll probably find some extremely esoteric ramblings.
Like everything else on this site, it's one big art project. So let's have some fucking fun, shall we?
By the way, check out this gif. That's from the "Shoot" screen in Gameboy Camera. I couldn't find a high quality gif of it anywhere online, so I decided to make it myself. You might also recognize it from the "Fun Stuff" page on this site.
Bustin' out | August 23 2024
It's been a rough week for me, been feeling a bit depressed. I was especially feeling down yesterday, so as a treat for myself I decided to install Sims 3 and try to get it working on my PC. I've tried this a few times in the past (Sims 3 does NOT agree with Windows 11) but it never quite worked, but thankfully this time around I found a patch that worked like magic. For those curious, here's what I used. Simply launch the patcher and locate your TS3.exe if you're on version 1.69 or TS3W.exe if you're on version 1.67, as per the creator's instructions.I spent all evening playing the Sims 3, but I didn't care, I deserved a treat this week. It's wild how much better it is than Sims 4. For one, the open world stuff makes the world feel a lot more exciting and alive. I feel like I'm playing an actual simulation game instead of some mobile casual game like Sims 4 feels like sometimes.
I still think Sims 2 is technically the better game, but I much prefer 3's gameplay. I've tried Sims 1 once before, but that game is a miserable nightmare. I much prefer the 2000's charm of 2 and 3.
I wonder if they'll ever make a 5, or they'll just milk 4 till the end of time. I mean, it's turning 10 years old next month.
The Sims series desperately needs competition, because it's very comfortable completely ripping off its community with overpriced DLC. There are a few games in development that seem like they could offer worthy competition, but I doubt any of them will actually release. It's just such a complicated type of game to make.
Anyways, that's my Sims rant. I like this series a lot, despite not really growing up with it. Well, I did have MySims on the DS, but that's a whole other can of worms.
Lethal Company | August 25 2024
Been playing Lethal Company with friends on and off the last couple months. I like this game, it's a fun time.I actually rarely play multiplayer games. I'm not really a fan of competitive games, and I don't like stuff that's a long-term commitment like an MMO or something. When it comes to multiplayer games with friends, I like stuff like Jackbox where you can hop in, have fun for a few hours, and hop off.
Lethal Company is good for 3-4 hour long sessions, and the amount of random bullshit that can happen keeps everyone on their toes and makes it fun to laugh about the unforseen circumstances once everyone dies. It's a pretty janky game though, I always hold my breath when making a precarious jump and enemies tend to just clip through walls. But like I said, the slight unfair nature of it is part of the fun. I have one friend who's a borderline expert on the game, so they tend to carry the team and keeps us informed on what new abomoniation we ran into does.
I want to play more games with friends, but everyone has their own schedule and it's rare when everyone's free time lines up. But I'm grateful for any opportunity to goof off with friends.
